X-Force Movie May Find New Life As A Miniseries On Hulu

With Disney having taken over Fox, it looked like the planned X-Force movie was dead. But now we're hearing it may be revived as a miniseries on Hulu.

Following in the footsteps of The Avengers and the seriously underwhelming Justice League movie, 20th Century Fox and director Drew Goddard had begun planning a superhero ensemble pic of their own in the form of X-Force.

Starring Ryan Reynolds and most, if not all of his Deadpool alumni – see: Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz – the mash-up was all set to begin shooting late last year, before rumors of its cancellation began to emerge thanks to the recent Disney/Fox merger. Suffice it to say, the project is in a state of flux and it’s been some time since we’ve heard anything about it.

According to sources close to We Got This Covered, however, X-Force is still happening and Disney fully intends to get it made. The hold up now, apparently, is due to the studio trying to decide if it should continue to move forward as a feature film, or if it’d be better off as a miniseries on Hulu.

From what we understand, either way, it’d still be a mature/R-rated affair, and Reynolds, Brolin and Beetz would all be involved no matter where it lands, but at the moment, the Mouse House is still looking into their options and as of yet, haven’t made a final decision.

This lines up with various other reports as well, as Goddard even admitted just a few months ago that he didn’t know what was happening with the project, indicating that things are still very much up in the air. That being said, we already know that Reynolds is fully committed to Deadpool for the foreseeable future, while Brolin has signed a multi-picture deal to play the time-traveling Nathan Summers.

So, even if it takes a while to materialize, and ends up on the small screen instead of in theaters, we imagine that the X-Force project will still live on. The only question now, is, what form will it take?
