Things get seriously creepy in this first full trailer for American Horror Story: Apocalypse.
It’s the eighth season of FX and Ryan Murphy’s gothic anthology series, but whereas previous installments were able to stand on their own two feet (even if they had some recurring elements and characters scattered throughout), “Apocalypse” rips up the rulebook so that key figures from “Coven” and “Murder House” can inhabit the same universe. And it’s that collision of worlds which is teased in the promo up above.
Offering up our first dose of footage from the new run, the latest Apocalypse trailer is a quick but tantalizing look at what Murphy and co. have planned for us this year. Plot details are kept to a minimum, but things kick off with Joan Collins on a plane that looks as if it’s about to crash, before we get a glimpse of familiar faces like Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy and Taissa Farmiga doing their witch thing, along with the returning Dylan McDermott, who first made his AHS debut back in season 1.
There’s quick shots of Evan Peters and Jessica Lange as well, and series stalwart Emma Roberts closes things out by telling someone off-camera: “I bet you’d thought you’d seen the last of me.” And just like that, the promo concludes, giving us nothing else to go on but certainly having us eager to see more.
Aside from the individuals who are spotlighted in this trailer, Apocalypse will also make room for Stevie Nicks as Stevie Nicks, Lily Rabe as Misty Day and Gabourey Sidibe as Queenie, among others. It’s a stacked cast, to be sure, and we can’t wait to see what Ryan Murphy has up his sleeve with the show’s latest chapter.
Expect American Horror Story season 8 to break new ground for FX’s anthology series on September 14th. And there’s still plenty more madness to come after that, too, as the network’s already gone ahead and secured plans for seasons 9 and 10.
