Warning: The following article contains spoilers for You‘s season two finale.
Over the course of four seasons, Netflix‘s You has managed to grip viewers’ attention through incredibly bloody manners. Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) crimes have been explicitly portrayed in the series — and there’s no shortage of them — but in You‘s increasingly complex story, the protagonist is not the only big bad.
Despite the amount of blood on Joe’s hands, one murder we cannot blame him for of Delilah’s (Carmela Zumbado). Yes, when he first discovered her body, he might have thought he did it during his blackout, but the truth ended up being more complex than that. In episode 10 of season two, “Love, Actually,” Joe finally confesses all his wrongdoings to Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), and in turn, she makes some confessions of her own.
As it turned out, the one responsible for killing Delilah was actually Love. After Delilah found her way to Joe’s storage unit — and the cage he kept victims in — she had plenty of evidence to convict him of his crimes, and Love just couldn’t let that stand. When she came across Joe’s neighbor locked in the cage, she did what any murderous, protective girlfriend would do: slashed Delilah’s throat. Love had planned to frame the crime as a suicide, but that didn’t come to pass and instead, she pinned it on her own dead brother, Fourty.
While she’s just as much of a terrible person as Joe, Love became an instant fan-favorite character after the season two finale. Luckily for fans, she might be making a comeback in part two of season four. New episodes will come out on Netflix on March 9.
