The Hosts are on the march.

After a year spent offline, the Delos Corp. has relayed a suitably cryptic tease for Westworld season 2, revealing that the first footage of HBO’s sophomore outing will air during Super Bowl LII this coming Sunday.

Entertainment Weekly has the scoop, which arrives hand-in-hand with a creepy, dimly-lit still of Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright). He appears to be standing in front of an unfinished Host, though the blank facial features really raise more questions than answers. Perhaps this man-made skeleton is an upgraded version of Westworld‘s sentient slaves? Who knows.

What we do know, however, is that the show’s opening season ended with the promise of a full-blown revolution, beginning with the shocking death of Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins).

Behind the scenes, this trailer reveal is a huge milestone for small-screen entertainment, as it marks the first time that HBO has booked a slot at the Super Bowl – a Herculean and admittedly bloated sporting event that’s typically reserved for big-name blockbusters.

For instance, this year’s crop arrives in the shape of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Dwayne Johnson’s Skyscraper and Solo: A Star Wars Story, the latter of which is expected to drop a short TV spot ahead of Good Morning America’s full reveal on Monday, February 5th.

True to their original promise, HBO’s top brass have slated Westworld season 2 for a premiere in the spring. And if early reports are to be believed, it’ll be every bit as mind-bending as the first.
