With the second season of Titans set to arrive in a matter of weeks, it won’t be long before viewers begin pondering what’s next for DC Universe. On the live action side of things, we do have another season of Doom Patrol and the debut of Stargirl to anticipate, but there’s no word of what lies beyond that.
As you may remember, there was talk of giving Hawk and Dove their own spinoff, yet we haven’t heard anything official regarding that topic in a very long time. Regardless, our sources – the same ones who told us that Robert Pattinson was confirmed as Batman and Viola Davis was returning for The Suicide Squad – assure us that discussions are still taking place and the possibility of an offshoot remains – given how well Titans season 2 performs, that is.
If you’d asked me a few years back if I’d be interested in watching a show based around Hawk and Dove, I’d have said “no” without hesitation. But after seeing what Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly brought to the table during Titans‘ first season, I’ve changed my tune. In my view, the two episodes focused on them – “Hawk and Dove” and “Hank and Dawn” – were among some of the young series’ best, therefore I’m clamoring for more.
Truth be told, we shouldn’t be too shocked about interest being renewed, what with the crimefighting duo now featuring prominently on the latest promotional material. From the look of it, they may play a bigger role going forward, hence why we’re still talking spinoff here.
Like I said, some time has passed since this was last brought up, but let’s at least revisit Alan Ritchson’s comment concerning the matter from last December before parting ways:
“I don’t think it’s out of the question. The idea has definitely been discussed on numerous occasions, and Minka and I are huge fans of the idea because we want to get to know these characters even better and see more of their day-to-day life.”
If you want to see a Hawk and Dove show materialize, then do you part by tuning in once Titans returns with new episodes on Friday, September 6th on DC Universe.
