Ok, let’s be honest here. Lori Grimes was not the most popular character on The Walking Dead. Her whiny nature brought everyone else on the show down and her disloyalty to Rick didn’t help endear her to the audience. Even so, her death was a big turning point for the show and a truly powerful moment.
While it’s hardly one of the more visceral means of death that have been utilized on the show, Lori dies giving birth to baby Judith – which is a sad enough fact on its own. Things get even darker, though, when her own son Carl is forced to shoot her in the head to keep her from coming back as a walker. Tough to watch in both a physical and emotional sense, Lori’s death finally made us feel sympathy for the show’s most hated character and irrevocably changed Rick and Carl forever.
