Despite the fact that viewership has dipped in recent years, The Walking Dead remains the highest-rated series on television. That means it’s going to be around for a long, long time and as we already know, an eighth season is on the way. That’s a number very few shows reach, and when they do, most have run out of steam long before.
The Walking Dead hasn’t, however, and season 7 ended with the promise of all-out war between Rick Grimes and Negan. It’s been a slow build, to be sure, but one which should pay off in a big way when the show returns, especially if the comic books are anything to go by. In the source material, “All-Out War” was an epic event which had major ramifications for the series that are still being felt dozens of issues later.
Unfortunately, we won’t get our first look at The Walking Dead season 8 until Comic-Con this July (that’s when the first trailer is always released), but star Chandler Riggs has now taken to social media to praise the script for the premiere, which will air on AMC this October. Admittedly, he doesn’t really say anything of substance here, but it’s still exciting to see his reaction after reading it.

Carl Grimes was a divisive character during the first few years of the show, but he’s become one of the most compelling leads in recent seasons. His interactions with Negan have been particularly good, and while the youngster doesn’t reveal anything specific about the episode here, his praise should be enough to get fans of The Walking Dead excited for what’s to come from the critically acclaimed series this Fall.
