AMC and its pool of creative talent aren’t known for resting on their laurels.
Case in point: The Walking Dead‘s cast and crew are now hard at work on season 9, which will presumably be with us sometime in the fall. How do we know that? Well, a new set photo has made its way online today, signalling the start of production. Granted, it doesn’t show us any of our beloved characters, but it came accompanied with the following caption: Season 9, Day 1. #TWD #TWDFamily
What’s also interesting to note about this pic is that it tells us that executive producer Greg Nicotero will be directing the season premiere. That’s hardly surprising, as he’s gotten behind the camera a number of times for the hit zombie drama – most recently for the season 8 finale – but it’s still nice to see that he’ll be in charge of kicking things off later this year.
Elsewhere, Robert Kirkman, the founding father behind The Walking Dead, told us a while back that there’s some “big stuff” coming up in season 9, teasing the following:
We just did the pitch out for season 9, and there’s some really cool stuff coming. In the pitch, Greg was like, ‘oh, I can’t wait to get started on that!’ I was like, ‘I can’t wait to see that. They’re always coming up with cool new evolutions for the zombies and there’s some big stuff coming up in season 9 that I’m hinting at and I’ll probably get in trouble for, zombie-wise.
Based on previous installments and AMC’s track record, The Walking Dead season 9 will be ready for its premiere sometime in October. The only question now, is, will you be tuning in? Be sure to hit the comments section and let us know.
