Vince Vaughn will be co-developing and executive producing a Brady Bunch series reboot for CBS. The show, which will be a multi-camera comedy, has already received a script order and Mike Mariano, who is known for writing and producing Raising Hope and My Name is Earl, has signed on to write the script.
/Film is reporting that Vaughn will model the new Brady Bunch series as a reboot and sequel to the hit original ABC sitcom, which ran from 1969-1974. The new show will focus on the youngest boy on the original sitcom, Bobby Brady.
The new Brady Bunch show will explore contemporary values and traditions as it will follow Bobby, a divorced father, as he remarries. His second wife has children of her own from a previous relationship and together, the two will also have a child together.
Since the original Brady Bunch went off the air, the sitcom spawned several spinoffs but Vaughn’s series will be the first major television reboot of the beloved show.
From the sounds of it, Vaughn will surely have a hit with his reboot. With the actor’s proven comedic chops and Mariano’s experience with showcasing interesting familial relationships in his two previous hit shows, the reboot will surely attract fans of the original Brady Bunch series as well as have no trouble attracting new viewers.
