No one can ever accuse HBO of not standing by its shows – and who can blame the premium network where stellar comedies Veep and Silicon Valley, both awards players, are involved.

The early pickups came a day after both shows premiered their most recent seasons. HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said in an offical statement:

“Veep and Silicon Valley are terrific series, and I’m immensely proud that they will return to HBO next year. Along with Game of Thrones and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, both of which have already been renewed for 2016, they give HBO a stellar Sunday night like no other.”

Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, just debuted its fourth season – and last with series creator Armando Iannuci, who stepped down as the showrunner last week. He’ll be replaced by Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s David Mandel for the now-assured fifth season.

Meanwhile, Silicon Valley, an ensemble tech comedy, will return for its third season next year after stunning HBO brass with a comedy series Emmy nom in its freshman run. Reviews on the currently airing second season remain strong.

The two returning comedies join a packed HBO comedy lineup that includes soon-to-premiere sports comedy Ballers, starring Dwayne Johnson; and political satire The Brink, featuring Jack Black and Tim Robbins. Also returning are GirlsDoll & EmTogetherness and Getting On, the latter of which was renewed for a final season. Looking, HBO’s low-rated gay-centric comedy, will not return for a third season but will conclude with a movie that is set to conclude all major plot threads.
