Valkyrie Will Get Her Own Disney Plus Show After Thor: Love And Thunder

Thor: Ragnarok introduced a bunch of fan favorite characters, arguably none more so than Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie. The Asgardian warrior finally made her second appearance in the MCU earlier this year in Avengers: Endgame, in which the God of Thunder named her king of New Asgard. She'll next turn up in 2021's Thor: Love and Thunder, but we've heard that Marvel has big plans for her following the fourth Thor movie.

We Got This Covered has been informed that Valkyrie will get her own Disney Plus TV series after Love and Thunder. This intel comes to us via the same source who previously told us that Marvel was working on shows for both Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk before they were officially announced by the studio this past weekend, so we have no reason to doubt it.

Ragnarok established that Valkyrie was one of Asgard’s elite squad of female warriors in the planet’s glory days, before her sisters were slaughtered when they went to battle Hela. Valkyrie was the only one to survive and spent the next 1,000 years or so drinking away her sorrows on Sakaar and working as a scrapper for the Grandmaster.

There’s more to explore in the heroine’s past, then, or else they can move beyond wherever the character is left in Love and Thunder. Thompson has confirmed that Valkyrie’s bisexuality will be established in the movie, after a scene alluding to it was cut from Ragnarok, as she’s on a mission to find her queen. If LaT doesn’t manage it, it’d also be good if a Valkyrie show could actually tell us what her name is.

Thor: Love and Thunder is due to start shooting next August in Australia before it hits cinemas in November 2021, so it may be a while before we hear anything official on this Valkyrie series. In the meantime though, tell us, are you excited by the idea of the heroine getting her own vehicle on Disney Plus? Hop on over to the comments and leave your thoughts.
