The Biggest Twin Peaks Revival Plot Theories: They Are Happening Again

Back in 1990, when Twin Peaks first appeared on television, audiences quickly became drawn into the mystery of Laura Palmer, and the darkness lurking in the woods around the town. It was a talking point – the morning after every weekly episode – and the phenomenon of trying to figure out what it all meant took firm hold on viewers around the world. But, this is the work of David Lynch and Mark Frost so, as much as it was fun to attempt to figure out the implications of what we had just seen, predicting what would happen in the rest of story was a far more complex undertaking.

Amanda Seyfried Plays The Daughter Of Bobby Briggs And Shelly Johnson

Theory: From promotional stills that’ve been officially released, we know that everyone’s favourite lovebirds from the first two seasons – Bobby Briggs (Dana Ashbrook) and Shelly Johnson (Madchen Amick) – are still resident in Twin Peaks. With the casting of Amanda Seyfried, as “Becky” – a member of the younger Twin Peaks generation – speculation has gathered around the idea of her being the daughter of the beloved couple.

Is it likely? It’s possible, if Amanda Seyfried plays the role younger than her own age (which is not unheard of, of course). Alternatively, “Becky” could be the daughter of Sheriff’s Station receptionist Lucy Moran (Kimmy Robertson) and Deputy Andy Brennan (Harry Goaz) – who were actually expecting a baby during the show’s first run, and have also appeared in the official set photographs, looking ‘stricken’.

On the other hand, and as a wild-card idea, perhaps it’s the case that “Becky” is the daughter of Agent Cooper and Annie Blackburn (Heather Graham), who spent a night together before Annie was abducted by Cooper’s sworn enemy, Windom Earle, at the end of season 2. Assuming that Annie survived her injuries, this would make “Becky” the niece of Norma Jennings (Peggy Lipton) – who’s the owner of the Double R Diner, which is where Shelly Johnson worked in the first two seasons. If this transpired, it would align more closely with the themes of the previous seasons, in which the relationship between father and daughter was central to many plot threads. The character of Annie does not appear to be in the third season, so her daughter would also be able to explain her absence in an organic way.
