On last week’s True Blood, Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) seemed to be a potential couple, the werepanthers were getting a little too close to Jason (Ryan Kwanten), Bill (Stephen Moyer) still seemed like an effective but obnoxious king, and the coven was trying to reverse Eric’s spell.
What can we expect from this week’s episode, I’m Alive and on Fire? If I had to guess, basically a bunch of the same: romance, necromancy, and werepanther rape.
After Eric’s midnight fairy snack from the previous episode, this week open’s with him drunk on fairy blood. Literally. He pinches Sookie’s butt and runs away. Sookie begins the search with the werewolf that will never go away, Alcide (Joe Manganiello).
Bill is also searching for Eric, who to him has been missing ever since Bill told Eric to shut down the witch’s coven. The vampire lobbyists are displeased with Bill over this disappearance, and our very own Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck) threatens Bill. “How many retired vampires do you know?” she quips.
Jason, who has been the victim of almost every female in the werepanther clan, is finally set free by one of their youngest. His escape is narrow, seeing as how he’s slowly dying of infection and probably numerous other things. Thankfully, Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Hoyt (Jim Parrack) happen to drive right passed the spot where Jason was able to pass out. He feeds off of Jessica, keeping her at the top of fan favorite lists.
Witch leader Marnie (Fiona Shaw) has a trippy dream where she realizes that she didn’t curse Eric; it was a previously burned-at-the-stake witch acting through her vessel. She is able to find a counter curse, but it doesn’t please Pam (Kristen Bauer), who unwisely talks back to Marnie. Suddenly, Pam’s face starts to melt on one side, reminiscent of Harvey Dent.
The sexual tension between Alcide and Sookie is back. Much to my chagrin, there’s a playful scene involving Magnellio’s ridiculous body-builder body and Sookie’s wondering eye. (You have eyes for only Eric, Sookie!)
Later on, Eric the Sea God is found by his sea wife, also known as Sookie, and Alcide in wolf-form, who are searching for him just like everyone else, only for a much different reason. In Sookie’s words, Eric “can daywalk some with the fairy blood, but it makes him drunk as a skunk.”
They leave Eric’s realm and when they get back, he tries to solicit a kiss from Sookie but they are interrupted by Bill. The following scene between Bill and Sookie shows just where their loyalties lie. Sookie blatantly lies about Eric’s whereabouts to Bill, and Bill is at first willing to push Sookie aside to search for him. Alas, how things have changed.
In other Bon Temps news, Tommy (Marshall Allman) returns to his real mom, where he is kidnapped by her awful boyfriend, Sam’s (Sam Trammell) lady friend has a daughter and a treacherous baby-daddy, and Bill’s new girlfriend turns out to be Portia Bellefleur (Courtney Ford), one of his many-great-granddaughters. Gross.
The strangest event of the entire episode had to be when Arlene’s (Carrie Preston) potential murderous baby gets ahold of a red marker and scratches “not your baby” on the wall in reference to Terry (Todd Lowe). Yes, he is Rene’s child, but Rene wasn’t supernatural to any degree. Or was he?
What will happen next week? Will Sam have something to do with the plot? How will Arlene handle her baby who’s straight out of The Shining? Can Eric bring world peace with a smile? Tune in next week!
