He’s been a lifelong Star Wars fan and even found himself with a small part in Solo as the fast-talking Rio Durant. But now, writer-director Jon Favreau is ready to bring us the hugely anticipated Disney Plus series The Mandalorian.
As a live-action Star Wars TV show, it’ll be the first of its kind and promises to bring us back to a time period between the fall of the Empire and the birth of the First Order. In other words, pretty much in the middle of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
Story-wise, we’ve been told that we’ll follow a “lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.” And though we haven’t seen too much from the series just yet, the ongoing D23 has now brought us the very first trailer for The Mandalorian. And boy, is it exciting. Boasting spectacular visuals, some intriguing hints at the story and a badass central character, you can certainly count us in.
Clearly influenced by the look and feel of Westerns, and bringing along with it an exciting group of talent both in front of and behind the camera, the series will no doubt deliver to fans a fresh take on the Star Wars universe. One that we simply can’t wait to see.
It’s obvious that Disney have a lot of faith in the project, too, as we know that Favreau is already hard at work on a second season, even though The Mandalorian won’t debut on Disney Plus until November 12th. That’s still several months away, but if this first trailer is any indication of what’s coming, then you won’t want to miss it.
