With the final stretch of Arrow season 5 set to commence in less than a week, The CW has released a new trailer in hope of getting viewers primed. And although we probably would’ve been satisfied with a deeper look at the returning episode alone, the network upped the ante by teasing what’s to come for the remainder of the season – with even a few possible looks at the finale.
Now, saying that there’s a lot to go over in this two-minute promo is a massive understatement, but let’s breakdown some of the finer points:
- Prometheus: Season 5’s big bad has no doubt had amend his endgame now that his secret identity has been revealed to the public. Still, that doesn’t make him any less of a threat. And now that he’s “in the wind,” it looks like he’s attempting to pick Team Arrow off one by one, so our heroes had better watch their backs.
- Black Siren: Aside from Katie Cassidy being confirmed as returning as a series regular for season 6, we do know that she’ll be back for the final two episodes of the current run. But what makes her involvement even more exciting is that not only will she be going head to head with Dinah Drake, the new Black Canary, but she’ll also meet Quentin Lance. You have to admit that seeing him meet his dead daughter’s evil doppelganger should make for some intriguing television.
- Nyssa vs. Talia: I long thought that this series made use of Nyssa because Talia was tied up in The Dark Knight Rises, and I was probably right. But now that that film is long behind us, both daughters of Ra’s al Ghul have found their way to the small screen and, despite reading the recent news confirming they’re on a collision course, it’s not quite the same as seeing it with your own two eyes.
- Deathstroke: Arguably the most popular villain the series has showcased to date, much back and forth has occurred as of late regarding his return. Unfortunately, all we see is Oliver Queen present his mask to a party off-screen, while we hear the voice of Manu Bennett. This aligns with a recent report stating that only his voice will be used and supports the notion that Slade Wilson will be played by a stuntman. I guess we’ll just have to tune in order to find out exactly what’ll happen.
As you go over the footage with your own fine-toothed comb, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for other returning characters such as Malcolm Merlyn and Artemis, as well as guest star Cody Rhodes. Suffice it to say, we’ll be glued to our sets when Arrow returns on Wednesday, April 26 on The CW.
