The Witcher‘s third season has just premiered on Netflix, and while it spelled a good start to Henry Cavill’s last hurrah as Geralt of Rivia, it left something to be desired. As fans quickly learned, the five episodes that landed on the streaming platform today are merely the first part of the season, meaning that if something felt amiss, that’s because it’s not the end.

The realization shouldn’t faze anyone, considering that Netflix has recently started splitting show’s seasons in half in order to ride fan excitement for longer, instead of dropping all episodes at once. Because of this, Witcher enthusiasts have a month of waiting ahead, as volume two is scheduled to drop on July 27 on the platform.

Unfortunately, the second part of the season will have fewer episodes than the first — three, to be exact. As to why Netflix opted for dividing the season into batches of five and three episodes instead of evenly splitting it down the middle, we may never know. But that’s neither here nor there. What matters most to fans is that more Witcher content is coming their way soon enough.

For now, the runtime of season three’s remaining episodes is unknown, but viewers should probably expect the usual 47 to 67 minutes. Regardless of how long they turn out to be, the upcoming episodes will be the last we see of Cavill in the show, which will return for a fourth season with Liam Hemsworth as the lead. Exactly how the recast will work in the show is still up in the air, so it seems like the only way to find out will be to tune in.
