We finally have a confirmed location for the next season of The White Lotus, and it’s not Tokyo like we originally thought. The incredibly popular HBO Max show about a resort chain and its guests and workers will be heading somewhere else equally as exotic.
The series has already travelled quite a bit, starting in Hawaii and then moving to Sicily, in Italy. Now we know, per Deadline, that the show is going to be in Thailand for season three. The Mike White-created show will possibly be shot at a luxury Four Seasons like the previous seasons were.
There are four Four Seasons resorts in Thailand: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle. At the end of the second season, White said that the first season was about money and the second was about sex. The third “would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
Production on season three hasn’t started yet, and White is reportedly checking out different locales to find a suitable one for the show. There’s no details on casting just yet, but seeing how the first two had basically different cast members, it makes sense that the third one will as well.
The show has been a huge hit and scored 10 Emmy wins after its first season. Jennifer Coolidge, a long time Hollywood presence, saw her career reach new heights when she won a slew of impressive awards, including a Golden Globe and a SAG Award, for her portrayal of Tanya McQuoid in seasons one and two.
We’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything else about the mysterious third season of the show.
