It’s been described as breathless, thrilling and very, very violent, so it’s small wonder why The Walking Dead community is pining for the premiere of season 8.
It’ll supposedly kill off “a few more” characters, too, and that’s something Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) echoed during a recent interview with ABC’s Triple J. First spotted by Screen Rant, Riggs began by offering a general overview of the show’s impending eighth season, and the current state of affairs in the Rick Grimes camp. The communities of Alexandria, The Kingdom and The Hilltop have forged an uneasy alliance against Negan, meaning that viewers can readily expect some serious fireworks come October.
And at least according to Chandler Riggs, who has been a stalwart of AMC’s flesh-munching flagship from the very beginning, The Walking Dead season 8 will feature “lots of killing” when it eventually makes its return to the airwaves. Buckle up, folks, because we all know how grisly things can get within the unforgiving world of TWD.
Balancing character moments with full-blown spectacle, Riggs is confident that season 8 will do good on all of that groundwork laid during The Walking Dead season 7, which many criticized for coasting along at a leisurely pace – at least after that balls-to-the-wall premiere.
Per Triple J:
Season 7 was all about building up and getting everyone ready to fight against Negan, and this season there’s going to be lots of explosions, lots of killing, a lot more Negan. Yeah, lots of fighting, lots of cool stuff…We’ve had a few characters this season who I feel so bad for, because they’re coming in in the midst of all the war and the craziness with the explosions and everything.
The Walking Dead season 8 kicks off on October 22nd, and we already have a fair idea of how it’ll begin. It’s also set to ring in the show’s historic 100th episode, and if you’re wanting to trace over the road so far, look no further than this poignant retrospective from earlier today.
