We haven’t seen the last of Rick Grimes and Morgan Jones.
At least, that’s according to Andrew Lincoln, who recently hinted at a possible reunion between the two seasoned survivors beyond The Walking Dead season 8.
Ahead of the show’s mid-season premiere next Sunday, Lincoln, who plays the gun-toting Rick Grimes on AMC’s undead juggernaut, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the back-to-back departures of Chandler Riggs (Carl) and Lennie James (Morgan), who have been involved in The Walking Dead ever since its humble debut eight years ago.
The former is set to be killed off in “Honor,” the super-sized (and mid-season!) premiere that is poised to get the ball rolling on February 25th, before Lennie James’ fan-favorite becomes the bridge that unites The Walking Dead with its sibling series, Fear The Walking Dead.
In doing so, he’ll make history, and it’s fair to say that fans have been calling on AMC to execute its zombie-themed crossover for years. But in the eyes of Lennie James, fans should expect the unexpected, while Andrew Lincoln believes The Walking Dead season 8 “is not the end for Rick and Morgan.”
Via EW:
It was a very, very sad back eight. There were lots of goodbyes, and big goodbyes as well. But there was a sort of sense, certainly, with Lennie, that it’s until we meet again. It’s always been that way with Rick and Morgan. I don’t know, there’s something in the air, that I feel that it’s not quite the end yet for Rick and Morgan.
Is Lincoln suggesting that Rick Grimes is also destined for Fear The Walking Dead? Or merely that he’d like to see Morgan circle back and regroup with his fellow survivors on The Walking Dead? So many questions, so few answers. Look for AMC’s flagship to return on February 25th.
