With Netflix, Disney Plus, Paramount Plus, and even network channels axing TV shows left and right, even the most well-received series getting renewed is now a miracle. But despite existing in this bleak era, a DC reboot managed to establish solid hope for its future and now those expectations have been rewarded.
It is going to be a long time before James Gunn gets to dazzle the DC fandom with his rendition of the Kryptonian superhero with Superman: Legacy in 2025. But before his version could win hearts with its perfection — and hopefully cement his status as DCU’s savior — Jake Wyatt’s animated series, My Adventures with Superman, swooped in to nab the acclaim.
The show currently has a 100% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive 82% audience score, with people praising Wyatt for depicting Superman the way the fandom always wanted him to see — a character first and a superhero later. The first two episodes of the series debuted on Adult Swim on July 7, with Max getting both the next day. Subsequent episodes of the series are set to release every Friday with the same schedule.
While fans of Netflix’s Shadow and Bone have to find hope in the unlikeliest places as the streamer hasn’t said a word on its renewal, My Adventures with Superman already has a two-season order. But given all the cancelations happening and the biggest shows with multiple season orders getting shelved, this wonderful update was understandably forgotten.
So, when a harried fan asked Wyatt whether it is wise to expect a 2nd season, he happily confirmed that My Adventures with Superman was greenlit with a two-season order.
“Yep, they ordered two!”
The series tells the story of Clark Kent (voiced by Jack Quaid) as he learns more about himself and becomes Superman in the process while the fearless Lois Lane (voiced by Alice Lee) exposes villains with her writing, often proving that the pen is indeed mightier than the sword.
