The Armorer has been presented throughout all three seasons of The Mandalorian as someone dignified, wise, and knowledgeable about Mandalorian culture. Little did we know that all the wisdom portrayed by the character can be traced back to previous Star Wars roles we know and love.

During a Q&A session at Oz Comic Con in Melbourne, Australia, last weekend, Emily Swallow revealed to the audience that her portrayal of The Armorer takes inspiration from two of Star Wars‘ most notable characters. According to the actress, she believed that The Armorer is more of a mentor in the series and recalled other characters in the franchise who were similar in nature. Fortunately, there were two that fit the role.

“When I first approach her, I was mostly thinking about archetypes that always helps me with characters, and she does feel like ‘the mentor’ of the show. I looked at Obi-Wan and I looked at Yoda, in kind of, less like how they come across physically or anything like that, but more of just the spirit of that.”

Swallow explained that she wants to be like The Armorer in her personal life for several reasons, including feeling inspired by her to be better recognizing that she has a “responsibility” to ensure that the character could do the same for others, especially for all the other young women out there who look up to her.

“I want to be like her when I grow up because she’s got all of her stuff together. I do feel a responsibility, I guess, but I feel like it’s such a huge honor to get to play this character. And I do think she teaches me to be better. She inspires me to be better and I feel the responsibility that way.”

Unfortunately, it is currently unknown if we will see more of The Armorer in future seasons of The Mandalorian. Season three ended with Din Djarin adopting Grogu, and this young foundling became a Mandalorian apprentice. While the season three finale and the show’s directors teased more stories involving this iconic duo, it is unknown if The Armorer or any of the other Mandalorian characters will be included. For now, you can catch up on all things Mando with seasons one through three of The Mandalorian streaming now on Disney Plus.
