Dr. Deaton (Seth Gilliam) is working his own angle on this episode and since we haven’t seen too much of him lately, it was a welcome reunion. As always, Deaton is one step ahead. His druid senses are firing and he has concocted a potential plan – which is more than anyone else has done. Scott and Kira were content fighting with the warriors sent to protect them. Everyone else is doing their part, but since no one really knows what’s going on, they aren’t making many gains. The only semi-productive thing happening outside of the good Dr.’s actions was the unlikely partnership between Derek and Argent.
It shouldn’t come as a huge shock to anyone though. Derek and Argent have ended up on the same side of things in the past. They account for the more mature percentage of the supernatural friendly crowd and it’s a fitting pair. In a lot of ways, they should hold each other in high regard. Derek is a born leader, and Argent has stood up for what’s right even when it wasn’t popular.
There’s also a couple interesting side plots happening that are worth mentioning. Lydia’s banshee abilities are still widely unknown. This isn’t a new tangent, or completely unrelated, but we’ve only just started to really explore it. She failed to track Stiles down last week, and now has resorted to willingly accepting guidance from Peter. This presents all sorts of problems. Peter only helps when it means he gets something in return. In this case, knowledge.
Apparently sometime back in the day, Peter fathered a child. His sister took this memory away from him, and unknowingly, Derek has helped him get it back. Lydia smartly withheld the entire truth, but this won’t keep Peter at bay for long. Peter as a father could go either way. It could turn into an inspirational tale of love and whatnot, but more likely it will just be another cause for him to be self-destructive.
What do you think Deaton has planned now that Stiles is temporarily down for the count? Will Kira learn the truth about her family history? How do you feel about the ‘Peter being a dad’ bomb that was dropped on tonight’s episode? Let us know all your Teen Wolf theories in the comments section below!
