The Beacon Hills werewolf club was in full-effect tonight as everyone came together to try and stop another murder. This time the darach was targeting teachers (philosophers) – which is a bit amusing now that we know that Miss Blake is the darach, and she’s been posing as a teacher. I spent a good chunk of the episode worried for her safety and assuming that Derek was going to have to swoop in and save the day – obviously not the case.
The Argents plus Isaac (Daniel Sharman) were the first to lay eyes on the darach, and it was not a pretty sight. Her grotesque appearance is described as a result of being ripped up and left for dead – presumably by the Alpha who tried to kill his/her emissary. I hope that Alpha was on her list of ‘warriors’ to kill. Instead the Sheriff might end up the first in that threesome.
I have to say that the recent pairing of Allison (Crystal Reed) and Isaac has been very interesting. They obviously have an on-screen chemistry and it would be sorta fun to see that play out. Scott and her are on the rocks in the romance department, and Isaac doesn’t seem like the worse choice. Watching Scott come to terms with his roommate dating his ex-girlfriend – whom he’s mostly still in love with – would add a new dynamic to Teen Wolf that we haven’t really seen before. Now that Derek and Miss Blake are clearly over, we’ll need another relationship to pull for.
Stiles said that sometimes the shape you take reflects the person you are inside after you’re bitten by a werewolf – so what does that mean about the person that Lydia (Holland Roden) really is inside if she manifested as the wailing woman/a banshee? We knew that Lydia was something of the supernatural essence after she survived being bitten by Peter (Ian Bohen) in season one and started having a sort of sixth sense about things – mostly things involving death – but a banshee, really? At least we can put a name with it now and she’s not just this ambiguous supernatural adjacent character.
Teen Wolf threw some pretty intense new information at us in this episode: Stiles coming clean to his dad, Lydia being a banshee, and Miss Blake being the psycho, human-sacrificing, darach. What were your first thoughts when the big reveals happened? Let us know in the comment section below!
Until next episode.
