We know that Warner Bros. is strictly keeping its DC TV and film universes separate… but does that hold true for the TV shows spread across multiple networks as well? Many, including myself, assumed that DC shows appearing on different networks would exist separately from one another, but according to The CW president Mark Pedowitz, that my not be the case.
Pedowitz recently spoke with Adweek about Arrow and The Flash, the only two DC superhero shows currently calling the CW home. When asked if the recently-announced Teen Titans series (which will star Nightwing and air on TNT) could crossover with the shows in the Arrow-verse, Pedowitz said;
“What you’ll see embedded in Flash and Arrow is that we’ll have the ability to test characters out. Is there room to grow them into the next show? I cannot tell you yet. There are discussions going on.”
That’s unfortunately not much to go on, but it is an intriguing bit of information. I’m not the only one who’s been dying to see Nightwing make his live-action debut on Arrow, so “testing” him on that series before making him the lead on Titans would certainly make sense. That also means that Deathstroke, a staple Teen Titans villain who was played wonderfully by Manu Bennet on Arrow, could easily jump from one series to the other while Green Arrow and Flash sidekicks like Arsenal (played by Colton Haynes on Arrow) and Wally West (who The Flash producers hope to bring to TV “eventually”) could debut on their respective CW series and then join Nightwing later on on Titans.
I could talk all day about the exciting possibilities of tying Titans into both Arrow and The Flash, and seriously hope that the “discussions” Pedowitz is having lead to something that fans can get excited about. I suppose only time will tell though.
Tell us, do you think it’s possible for shows on TNT and the CW (both owned by Warner Bros.) to crossover like this? Or should the superhero universes on TV stay just as separate from one another as they do in the films? Sound off below!
