A half-hour comedy pilot from Conan O’Brien has been snagged by TBS, host to his late-night show, Conan. The program is multi-camera, and will feature a family man who quits his job, returns to his hometown, and finds his old best friend.
O’Brien will be the executive producer of the new show, along with Jeff Ross, who’s behind Conan, and the show will be written by Ben Wexler (Still Standing), Ross Novie (Secret Girlfriend and assistant director for programs such as Arrested Development), and Jay Rondot (also Secret Girlfriend).
Not much is known about the project besides the man-quits-job storyline, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, it will begin production later this year.
I personally don’t think the synopsis sounds too promising, but it’ll probably be better than the other original TBS comedies. (I’m looking at you, My Boys.) If they can get a charismatic enough lead star, they should be able to pull it off.
