For several weeks now, we’ve known that John Constantine will be making yet another appearance on Legends of Tomorrow. I mean, not only was it thrilling to know that we’d be getting to see more of the character, but it also makes sense that he recur because the team are currently dealing with a supernatural villain in the form of Mallus. Granted, it all hinged on the availability of actor Matt Ryan, but we’re glad that everything worked out.
Previously, not much had been known about what that particular episode will have to offer, but a freshly surfaced synopsis for the cleverly titled “Necromancing the Stone” helps clear up things:
THE POWER WITHIN — When Mallus’ power over Sara (Caity Lotz) resurfaces, she unwittingly becomes the bearer of one of the Totems. Rory (Dominic Purcell) must conquer his dark side in order to wield his own Totem power to help save the crew. Meanwhile, Agent Sharpe (guest star Jes Macallan) notices that something is wrong and recruits someone unorthodox to help. Brandon Routh, Nick Zano, Maise Richardson-Sellers, Keiynan Lonsdale and Nick Zano also star. April Mullen directed the episode written by Grainne Godfree & Morgan Faust (#315). Original airdate 3/19/2018.
Strangely enough, the network decided to make no mention of Constantine himself, but we can see that his prophecy of Mallus having influence over Sara Lance will come true. Furthermore, it’s interesting to note that Mick Rory will bear a Totem of his own, which we can only assume will be one of the Fire variety. Needless to say, it seems like a natural fit for a guy nicknamed “Heatwave.”
Beyond this, know that Constantine isn’t done with the Waverider crew for the immediate future, as he’s also been confirmed to appear in the season finale. As of now, details surrounding that are understandably scarce, but we’ll keep you posted as more emerges.
Legends of Tomorrow airs on Monday nights on The CW.
