AMC’s The Walking Dead is nearing its season three debut, and for fans (who are growing to proportions akin to zombie apocalypse itself) that date can’t come soon enough. We’re gotten images and a superb extended trailer thus far (plus plenty of tidbits courtesy of Comic-Con) and now we’ve received an ensemble character poster to add to the mix.
All of the original (surviving) cast members are featured here, including, of course, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), his wife and daughter (Sarah Wayne Callies and Chandler Riggs), Andrea (Laurie Holden) along with Glenn, Maggie, T-Dog, Carol and Daryl. Also added are newcomers Michonne (our sword wielding heroine) and The Governor, who will serve as the main villain this season.
In season three, weakened and low on ammunition, the gang will hedge their bets by taking refuge in The West Central Prison (a key staple of the comics) which unfortunately for the survivors catches the attention of The Governor, the ruthless leader of a group of survivors known as the Woodbury.
Some viewers may have not been as keen on the meandering nature of The Walking Dead’s second season, but the hit series garnered record ratings and high acclaim in spite of any dissent. Now that the show has round its rhythm (and has put behind it the ugliness that the departure of series creator Frank Darabont), the creepy setting of the prison and introduction of a main villain should mean great things for season three.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC this October.
