Meanwhile, Charlie and Mac have decided to take it upon themselves to protect the schools. Their thought is that they need to stand outside the school, armed, so any school shooter will see them from a mile away and just go back where they came from. Charlie’s weapon of choice is an unloaded six-shooter, but Mac thinks guns shouldn’t be near school property, so he chooses a sword. This leads to many arguments about whether Mac could stop a shooter in time with only a sword, and Mac demonstrating his skill by slicing a watermelon head.
When they get banished from the school, they decide to teach the kids how to defend themselves. They bring a few kids from the school to Paddy’s and arm them with everything from a fork to piano wire. They then set out to teach them how to use those things to defend the school, but it ends up turning into a Hunger Games situation with a bunch of violent kids duking it out.
It turns out, Frank isn’t really passionate about gun rights, he simply bought shares in Gunther’s and was out to make a buck, which he did. We find out at the end of the episode that his next plan is to sell water filters, and the episode ends with him back on the news letting everyone know that their water is poisoned.
Overall, this episode was quite funny from start to finish, which makes it a definite improvement on last week’s. Any chance for the Gang to deal with a political issue is a great one, and they way they all flip their position on the issue so easily serves as a hilarious commentary on the way most Americans are so easily swayed (sorry, don’t be offended, I’m not talking about you specifically).
While the political beating may wear on some viewers and seem like too much, it’s important to remember the show is making fun of those who preach those issues, not necessarily attempting to preach the issues themselves. It basically shows that people who are too passionate on either side seem idiotic, and that’s the sweet spot where this show is brilliant time after time.
It’s all just like Al Gore with global warming.

- Where’s the Lawyer when you need him?
- Dennis barely cracking the car window was a reminder of one of the show’s best moments where they needed one crack rock please.
- “You have an extensive record of felonious behavior.”
- “How is that tasteless? It’s art!”
