The townsfolk of Hawkins, Indiana are about to welcome a fresh face into the mix for Stranger Things season 3, and it makes for quite the casting scoop.
Her name? Robin (Maya Hawke), who can be seen dolling out ice cream in the vintage, retro-inspired promo for Stranger Things down below. Pictured alongside Joe Keery’s fan-favorite, Steve Harrington, the show’s latest recruit has been pitched as an “alternative girl who is equal parts sharp and playful. Bored with her mundane day job, she just wants a little excitement in her life… and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins.”
A dark secret about Hawkins, you say? Sounds like we’re about to tread over familiar territory come 2019. Be that as it may, the following promo may also tease a new romantic beginning for Steve, now that Nancy Wheeler has all but moved on with her own life. But first, here’s that shot of Maya Hawke’s newcomer working at Scoops Ahoy, the ice cream shop that’s installed as part of the newfangled Starcourt.
Maya Hawke joins Stranger Things as a series regular, which can also be said about Lucas’ strong-willed and sassy little sister, Erica. Priah Ferguson’s breakout became an instant favorite among the show’s fanbase, so it’s only fitting that she’s been bumped up to a regular in time for season 3.
The result? Expect Erica to bring “an army of friends” as she finds herself on a wild mission to save Hawkins from a dangerous and unexpected new threat.
Filming on Stranger Things season 3 continues apace, which tells us the Netflix original is currently on course for a premiere sometime next year.
