Stranger Things Star Says Season 3 Is Bigger, Darker And Scarier

We've still got a while to go until Stranger Things' long-awaited third season hits Netflix. Due to the busy schedules of the talented, in-demand cast, season 3 didn't make it out last year and is instead due to drop this summer, rather than the series' traditional Halloween release slot. It sounds like it'll be worth the wait, though, as one star of the smash hit supernatural drama is promising that it's "bigger, darker [and] scarier."

We’ve still got a while to go until Stranger Things‘ long-awaited third season hits Netflix. Due to the busy schedules of the talented, in-demand cast, season 3 didn’t make it out last year and is instead due to drop this summer, rather than the series’ traditional Halloween release slot. It sounds like it’ll be worth the wait, though, as one star of the smash hit supernatural drama is promising that it’s “bigger, darker [and] scarier.”

Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler on the show, spoke to Josh Horowitz of MTV News recently and teased what she could about the top secret third run. “It’s set in the summer, it’s in the ‘80s,” she began, repeating what’s already been revealed about the season. Specifically, that it takes place in July 1985.

Instead of talking about plot points, Dyer then spoke about the feel of the production on set, teasing that it felt like everything had been bumped up to a whole new level.

“It does feel bigger, just filming it — obviously I haven’t seen any of it, but it does feel bigger, darker, scarier. It felt like they noticeably bumped it up to a different level this season. So I’m excited to see it, too. I don’t know how they do it, [creators] the [Duffer] brothers, but yeah, I’m excited.”

This is much the same as we’ve heard from the rest of the cast and crew. Producer Shawn Levy, for instance, previously promised that season 3 goes even darker than the already pretty gloomy season 2. However, he also stated that it has “so much heart and humor” as well. Millie Bobby Brown, meanwhile, has said something similar, as she’s teased how Eleven will get to just have some fun for the first time in her life.

Stranger Things season 3 arrives on Netflix on July 4th, and as soon as we learn more about what to expect from the new run, we’ll be sure to let you know.
