While we’re still technically waiting on an official synopsis for the next major Arrowverse crossover, “Elseworlds,” yesterday’s reveal of the teaser poster told us so much about it by showing how Stephen Amell will play the Flash and Grant Gustin will likewise suit up as Green Arrow. When you think about it, the concept is quite ingenious in its simplicity, and is something we should’ve at least guessed was happening.
Despite that, many questions are still circling the event, namely what’s up with Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman, whom we know to be wearing a black costume that’s sure to please fans who hoped to see such a thing in Justice League. Furthermore, we know nothing about the role Supergirl herself will play, although she’s found time to pose for a photo with her cousin and Lois Lane.
As usual, the unofficial ambassador of the Arrowverse, Stephen Amell has taken some time out of his busy day to both mystify and excite viewers with the following Tweet:
“I’ll remember today on the crossover for working with my Wife (proud of her), working with Ruby, working with Danielle, GUSTIN!!!… and a room filled with more Easter eggs than you’ll know what to do with!”
From the sound of it, said Easter eggs will be of the visual variety, so maybe we’ll see them in either Superman’s Fortress of Solitude or even Arkham Asylum. Regardless, it’s probably not crazy to think other obscure DC references will be dropped via dialogue.
If anything, this adds more intrigue to how Amell’s wife, Cassandra Jean, has been cast as Nora Fries, the better half of one Mr. Freeze, so there’s bound to be something interesting on that front. We’ll just have to tune in to find out, though I suspect some are already wondering when Stephen will get to play Supergirl – but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting to find out.
This fall’s Arrowverse crossover begins on Sunday, December 9 with The Flash, continues on Monday, December 10 with Arrow, and wraps up on Tuesday, December 11 with Supergirl.
