The last time we heard news about 'Lando' was back in 2020.

It has been a few years since the Star Wars spin-off series, Lando, was announced. Since then, there has been little word on the show’s development, other than potential cast members. Recently, one of the show’s writers, Justin Simien, gave an update about Lando’s development, but it is not good news.

Simien revealed that he hasn’t heard back about the project from Disney and Lucasfilm higherups since its announcement in 2020. In an interview with The Direct, the Haunted Mansion director stated that the show was paused due to scheduling, and he currently has no idea if Disney plans to move forward with the series.

“I certainly poured my heart and spent a lot of time working with them to put together a really great show. It feels like everybody loves it. And, you know, I was told we had to put a pause on it because of scheduling, and the next update I got [was in 2020], some years ago. So I don’t know, I have no idea what’s going on with it.

Lando was first announced back in 2020, with Donald Glover set to reprise his role as the young gambler from the 2018 film, Solo. There was also speculation that Billy Dee Williams might make an appearance as well, reprising his role from the films. While an official plot hasn’t been revealed, it was also reported that the series would jump between timelines.

Lando Calrissian first appeared in Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back as an old friend of Han Solo and the previous owner of the Millennium Falcon. He later appeared in other Star Wars titles such as Solo, The Rise of Skywalker, and Star Wars Rebels. He also received his own sci-fi trilogy novel titled The Lando Calrissian Adventures, which told his story during his smuggling days.

Disney has released numerous Star Wars originals over the years, with Ahsoka set to come out on Disney Plus this August. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that we will hear more about Lando‘s development, especially after Bob Iger’s recent announcement to slow down releases from Marvel and Star Wars.
