Despite all the fanfare surrounding his role in the CBS All Access show’s sophomore run, Star Trek: Discovery season 2 has yet to give us Ethan Peck’s on-screen debut as Spock. In episode 7, titled “Light and Shadows,” however, the search for Spock will continue as his adoptive sister Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) returns to Vulcan to meet with her parents, Sarek (James Frain) and Amanda Grayson (Mia Kirshner).
Sarek and Amanda have been recurring presences throughout the past two seasons, with the Vulcan ambassador and his human wife last appearing in season 2 episode 1 and episode 3, respectively. We don’t know if the visit home helps Burnham get any closer to finding her brother, but it sounds like she’ll uncover some other revelations in the process.
The synopsis for “Light and Shadows,” meanwhile, teases that she’ll discover some “surprising family secrets.” You can check it out down below along with a few photos from the episode.
“Burnham goes to Vulcan in search of Spock, where she unearths surprising family secrets. In researching what is left of the Red Angel’s signal over Kaminar, Pike and Tyler end up in battle with time itself. Georgiou has a few tricks up her sleeve for Leland and Section 31.”
Away from Vulcan, meanwhile, the rest of the U.S.S. Discovery crew will have a new temporal problem to face. The photos above promise that Captain Pike (Anson Mount), Saru (Doug Jones), Tilly (Mary Wiseman), Stamets (Anthony Rapp) and Tyler (Shazad Latif) will all play key roles in the episode. Finally, another still teases a confrontation between Michael and Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh), who it sounds like is up to her old manipulative tricks with her new employers.
Be sure to catch Star Trek: Discovery 2×07 “Light and Shadows” this Thursday, February 28th on CBS All Access. If you’re waiting for Spock to arrive, there’s no official word yet on which episode he’ll first appear in, but we’ll keep you posted.
