Ash is back, baby. But you probably already knew that if you caught glimpse of yesterday’s brand new gore-soaked Ash Vs. Evil Dead trailer. Replete with the bloody travails of Ash and his new merry band of Deadite hunters, it’s a pleasing taster for the series which reunites its central three figures some 26 years after the first Evil Dead movie.
And by the looks of their chemistry, it’s no wonder the trio decided to join forces to pick up Ash’s tale. In this latest inside look at the show, the core creative crew discuss what drew them back to the title that kickstarted their careers, and what fans can look forward to most when it debuts this fall.
As if the legions of diehard Dead acolytes need assurances. Advance word on the series and reactions to trailer footage have been universal: it looks groovy. Bruce Campbell will reprise his role as the title character Ash, a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the past three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its evil grip.
