Sin City: A Dame to Kill For actress Rosario Dawson jumped on board Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil Netflix series back in June, but the character that she’d be playing remained a mystery. This of course led to rampant fan speculation, pointing toward characters like Daredevil love interest and assassin Elektra, Jessica Jones (who’s getting her own Netflix series as well), and even more obscure heroes like White Tiger.

Well, the time for speculating is over, because Dawson’s role has finally been revealed. At the NYCC Daredevil panel this weekend, executive producer Jeph Loeb announced that Dawson will play an amalgam of two characters: Claire Temple and Night Nurse.

Claire Temple is the ex-wife of Bill Foster – the size-changing hero known as Goliath (who in turn has ties to Ant-Man‘s Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas) – and is a doctor who became romantically involved with Luke Cage. Night Nurse, on the other hand, is the alias of Linda Carter, who is known for aiding superheroes in need of medical care and is a love interest of Doctor Strange.

While the role may sound a bit insignificant at first, there’s actually plenty of room here for Dawson to stick around in the Marvel Universe. It’s easy to see how a clinic specializing in superhero treatment would benefit multiple characters in the MCU, and the romantic ties to both Luke Cage and Doctor Strange (who are getting their own Netflix series and film, respectively) mean that she can appear in multiple films and television shows.

Tell us, are you happy to hear that Rosario Dawson is playing Night Nurse? Or would you rather she play someone like Elektra? Sound off in the comments below.

Daredevil is scheduled to hit Netflix in 2015.
