The second season of iZombie continues to thrill audiences with the very wit, humor, intrigue, and sharply written characters that made the first season so dynamic, while still going in a bold new direction. Blaine is cured, Major is a reluctant gun for hire, and Liv, well, is still eating brains to help solve murder cases. The fact that Rose McIver gets to flex her acting muscles each week by taking on a new personality via her grey matter gorging means there is never a dull moment for this series.
On that note, we will next see Liv embody the traits of what has been called a “Real Housewife” in pop culture these days. The title of next Tuesday’s episode is, in fact, “Real Dead Housewife of Seattle,” so that one wasn’t likely too difficult to surmise. We have already seen her take on the traits of a grumpy old man with Archie Bunker-esque world views and a beer pong loving frat boy with an affinity for saying “bro” ad nauseam in the previous two episodes this season, so we can only hope that her performance next week lives up to those. If the hilarity that ensues in the trailer at the top of this article is any indication, we should be in for a treat.
Aside from investigating the murder of a pampered trophy wife, the episode will also see the return of Peyton (Aly Michalka). As you may recall, that particular character has not been seen or heard from since the first season’s penultimate episode in which she discovered Liv’s secret. It should be quite interesting to see how she interacts with not only Liv, but also with Ravi, due to the fact that they were in the midst of a relationship when she made the decision to disappear. Perhaps that will provide some distraction for our protagonists for the time being while Major continues his downward spiral.
ALY MICHALKA (“HELLCATS”) GUEST STARS — Liv (Rose McIver) eats the brains of a recently murdered trophy wife who was pushed to her death from the balcony of her stunning architectural home in the hills by a hired hit man. A Pinot Grigio-sipping, suddenly fashion obsessed Liv and Detective Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) begin questioning suspects in their search for the original brains behind this murder. Meanwhile, Liv and Ravi (Rahul Kohli) are surprised to learn that Peyton (guest star Aly Michalka) has returned to Seattle. Robert Buckley and David Anders also star. Jason Bloom directed the episode written by Kit Boss (#203).
iZombie airs Tuesdays at 9pm EST on The CW.
