Pretty Little Liars Welcomes Back Series Regular Tyler Blackburn

The Pretty Little Liars spinoff series, Ravenswood, came with one obnoxious string attached - splitting up one of PLL fans' favorite couples, Hannah (Ashley Benson) and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn). In anticipation of the separation, writers quickly concocted an alternative storyline involving other romantic possibilities for the newly single Hannah back in Rosewood while opting to give Caleb another potential match in Ravenswood. And it worked. At least, up until Ravenswood was given the ax.

The Pretty Little Liars spinoff series, Ravenswood, came with one obnoxious string attached – splitting up one of PLL fans’ favorite couples, Hannah (Ashley Benson) and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn). In anticipation of the separation, writers quickly concocted an alternative storyline involving other romantic possibilities for the newly single Hannah back in Rosewood, while opting to give Caleb another potential match in Ravenswood. And it worked. At least, up until Ravenswood was given the ax.

Ravenswood only managed to bring in mediocre ratings during its ten-episode run and ABC Family quickly cancelled the Pretty Little Liars spinoff. This left fans with the lingering question of what would happen to Blackburn’s character, who exited PLL to headline the new show.

The network didn’t take long to respond to fans who were understandably eager for an answer as today, ABC Family has officially announced that Tyler Blackburn will return as a series regular on PLL. With only one episode left this season – airing on March 18 – viewers can expect Caleb to return to Rosewood sometime early on in the fifth season.

There’s no word whether or not the former love birds will rekindle their romance or if any other Ravenswood residents will be relocating. After a somewhat rough break-up, Hannah seems to be moving on, and there’s no doubt that Caleb will have some things to sort out after his recent supernatural experience. It’ll be especially interesting to see what explanation the writers offer since Ravenswood was cancelled before viewers were fully able to grasp the nuances of what was going on plot-wise at that point in the story arc.

Pretty Little Liars executive producer Oliver Goldstick didn’t offer any spoilers for Caleb’s return, but he did say that it will be “a lovely reunion.” Does this mean Hannah and Travis are finished before they really get started in a very Aria and Jake-esque way?

You’ll just have to wait and see what happens when Pretty Little Liars returns for season five on June 10th.
