Pretty Little Liars Review: “Under The Gun” (Season 4, Episode 6)

Pretty Little Liars has had some high stakes before, but tonight even 'A' has out done herself. Hannah (Ashley Benson) is on house arrest after being arrested with the gun that was used to kill Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson), and when Emily (Shay Mitchell) tried to help, she wound up looking just as guilty.

Tonight Pretty Little Liars gave us our first introduction to Ravenswood, the town where the spin-off of the same name will be centered. Production didn’t spare any chance to show us exactly how creepy this new setting is either. With the muted colors, the ominous music, and the maladjusted residents, it looks just right for a town with a centuries’ old curse to be mulling around. Too bad Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Toby (Keegan Allen) didn’t find more of what they were looking for about Ally (Sasha Pieterse) on this field trip.

They did manage to be about as obvious as humanly possible though when attempting to pursue Shana (AeriĆ©l Miranda) and presumably Jenna (Tammin Sursok), since it was her car. For future reference, when you’re trying to be discreet, running across the middle of the road in front of the vehicle you plan to chase is probably not the smartest choice. Luckily, Ravenswood turned Hitchcock at the right moment and a crow decided to show off its best ‘nose dive into the windshield’ technique – saving them from making a bigger spectacle out of themselves. What did they really thing they were going to find following Shana? It’s not like they were willingly going to lead them to their secret lair.

Although, that probably would have sped up the forgiveness time frame since Mona abruptly outed the RV secret to Aria (Lucy Hale) and Emily when she popped back into town. At least that is out in the open now. I can’t help but be curious about what kind of parents let their teenage daughter traipse around like that though. Mona has been missing in action for several episodes now, ergo missed a lot of school. Does no one notice that type of thing in Rosewood? I guess that is still a resounding no, since last week I ranted about the same thing with Caleb (Tyler Blackburn).

The Liars are definitely going to need to pull together if they’re going to figure out how to deal with everything ‘A’ is throwing at them. Do you think the sorority lady was a friend of Ally’s or just providing a service? Will Toby find out what really happened to his mother? And, what does Shana being at Rosewood High mean for the Liars? Until next episode.
