Pretty Little Liars Review: “The Mirror Has Three Faces” (Season 4, Episode 10)

Emily (Shay Mitchell) and her mom have been living out of a motel since 'A' decided to send a strongly worded message via a car through their living room wall. Of course, her mother just thinks it was a reckless driver, but Emily knows the truth. Only 'A' could get away with slamming heavy machinery into a house without leaving a trace.

Is it just me, or has there always been something a little off-kilter about Mrs. DiLaurentis? In this episode of Pretty Little Liars we see a few different sides of her, and none of them are particularly flattering.

Emily (Shay Mitchell) and her mom have been living out of a motel since ‘A’ decided to send a strongly worded message via a car through their living room wall. Of course, her mother just thinks it was a reckless driver, but Emily knows the truth. Only ‘A’ could get away with slamming heavy machinery into a house without leaving a trace.

As if Emily’s stunt with the missing key to Wilden’s apartment wasn’t enough of a blow to her mother’s sanity. Pam (Nia Peeples) has had a rough run as of late with her household (literally) falling apart. The child-abuse concerns seem to have fallen by the wayside, but things on Pretty Little Liars have a way of coming back around to bite you when you least expect it.

‘A’ has really taken her grudge on the Liars out on their parental units lately. Aria’s (Lucy Hale) mother was the victim of an in-car bee attack. Hannah’s (Ashley Benson) mom is being framed for a murder that she (most likely) didn’t commit. And, Emily’s parents have both been privy to some harsh made-up realities in recent weeks.

Out of the goodness of her heart, or more likely, loneliness, Mrs. DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker) has opened her house up to the homeless duo. It would seem like an extremely generous gesture if it wasn’t for the super creepy factor. She has turned Alison’s (Sasha Pieterse) old bedroom into a pseudo shrine – and now Emily is going to be sleeping in it.

Between that and the random guest that has been poking holes in the floor boards – who may or may not still be taking us residence in the basement – it’s hard to imagine Emily will be getting a good might sleep anytime soon. Mrs. D looked pretty nonchalant about the entire incident. I don’t know about you, but if some vagrant (er, unknown person) had been using my house as their own personal crash pad, I wouldn’t have just shrugged it off so easily. Did anyone else feel completely underwhelmed by her response?

As if it isn’t hard enough losing your best friend (who you may have been in love with) and suffering through years of harassment, Emily now has to worry about someone tangible peeking in on her in the middle of the night.

Mrs. D is pretty unstable, but I’m guessing it wasn’t her dressed up as Red Coat, complete with an Aly mask. Whoever it was though seemed to have free access to the house, and that can’t be a good sign.
