Pretty Little Liars returned for its fifth season last night and Ezra (Ian Harding) surviving being shot by ‘A’ isn’t the only thing fans had to be excited about. ABC Family has announced this morning that the hit teen drama will be around for at least two more seasons.

“Pretty Little Liars has taken its place in the zeitgeist and reigns supreme in pop culture,” said Tom Ascheim, ABC Family president. “I am glad to bring another two seasons to our audience, because ‘A’ has a lot in store for our Liars.”

According to THR, season six and seven will premiere in mid-2015 and mid-2016, respectively. Pretty Little Liars has always strayed from the traditional scheduling model, but it’s clearly working so the network will be sticking with it going forward.

This year, in addition to the Halloween episode which typically airs about halfway between the first and second half of each season, fans will also get a Christmas episode sometime in December, making the long hiatus that much more bearable.

There’s still no word whether season seven will be the last for Pretty Little Liars. At this point, there are so many secrets that need to be sorted out that the show could go on indefinitely. If the writers have done anything right, it’s that they have the uncanny ability to keep fans on the edge of their seat with the possibility of getting answers – even if they come in bits and pieces, and stretched out of multiple seasons.

You can currently catch season five of Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family every Tuesday at 8/7 c.
