One of the shows I’m most excited for this year is Aaron Sorkin‘s The Newsroom – a new HBO drama premiering June 24th on HBO – and much of my anticipation is due to HBO’s stellar marketing campaign. We’ve already seen three fabulous trailers (embedded below), and now we have a stylish, simple poster to go along with it.
Sorkin is best known for creating the iconic political drama The West Wing, but he’s dabbled in TV before (Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip), and most recently made a big splash in movies, winning an Oscar for writing The Social Network and earning a nomination (alongside Steven Zaillian) for Moneyball.
The Newsroom returns Sorkin to several of his pet subjects, as it traces the day-to-day operations at a 24-hour-news network after its lead anchor (played by Jeff Daniels) has a public outburst that goes viral.
The show also features Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Dev Patel, John Gallagher Jr., Olivia Munn, and Sam Waterson.
Here’s that new poster, followed by the first three trailers:
