Actor Pierce Brosnan, best known for his role as superspy James Bond, is set to star in A&E’s upcoming miniseriesĀ Stephen King’s Bag of Bones. Based on the New York Times bestselling novel by horror scribe Stephen King, the four-hour two-night event is set to air in late 2011 and will be Brosnan’s first starring role on the small screen since the 1990s.

Bag of Bones tells the story of bestselling novelist Mike Noonan (Brosnan) who struggles to cope with his grief in the wake of his wife’s sudden death. Encouraged by a dream of their lakeside retreat in western Maine, Noonan travels to their former vacation home only to become involvedĀ in a custody battle between the daughter of an attractive young widow and the child’s wealthy grandfather. Noonan soon begins to suffer from strange ghostly visitations and terrifying nightmares that make him believe his late wife may be trying to speak to him.

The miniseries will also star Anabeth Gish (Brotherhood) as Noonan’s wife Jo and will be directed by Mick Garris, who previously directed the film Desperation, which was also based on one of King’s novels. Filming will take place in Nova Scotia, Canada.

I’ve been a fan of Brosnan’s for years and a fan of King’s work for even longer. Bag of Bones was a great novel and I can’t wait to see Brosnan back on the small screen again.

How do you feel about seeing the former Agent 007 back on television?
