At this point, it’ll probably take us the remainder of the day to list off all of the cool stuff which the next major Arrowverse crossover, “Elseworlds,” has going for it. But if there’s one thing that’s had our attention from the get-go, it’s most assuredly the debut of Ruby Rose as the first live action iteration of Batwoman.
Fortunately, we’ve had our appetites sated in recent months, thanks to the first official image of Ruby in full costume being released, not to mention candid shots with cast and crew. To put in in social media terms, the former offering was her profile pic, while the latter treats could be seen as tagged photos.
Now, though, we’re gifted with something in between – and perhaps even cooler – as Entertainment Weekly has just shared a first look at Batwoman in action. Seen below, Gotham’s scarlet-haired protector readies her grapnel gun and looks like she’s about to kick some serious ass.
Receiving the privilege to don cape and cowl is something not many actors enjoy in their lifetime, which I can only imagine creates the most surreal of situations. Speaking of which, Rose told the outlet what it’s like to fully suit up:
“It’s a strange feeling to put on a suit like this that has been custom made for you knowing that it’s going to transform you into a character that does amazing things. You feel very empowered and it just instantly changes everything you feel in that moment.”
Additionally, co-star Stephen Amell complimented his colleague and hyped the historic team-up in one fell swoop with a statement of his own:
“I don’t think there could be a better person for it than Ruby. We shot a scene with her last night, and her exchange with Grant was just, ‘Oh, ok, this is Batwoman.’ I think people are really going to appreciate it when [they see it].”
This fall’s Arrowverse crossover – Batwoman and all – begins on Sunday, December 9 with The Flash, continues on Monday, December 10 with Arrow, and wraps up on Tuesday, December 11 with Supergirl.
