July 10th marked the final day of production for the upcoming 2017 Christmas special. As fans will know, this is set to be Peter Capaldi’s last episode as the Doctor. Unlike a lot of actors who would probably want to step out quietly after such a big day, Capaldi went out to meet some fans instead, who were gathered outside the Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff, Wales.

The actor has always been known for his extreme generosity to fans and the Tweets below just show how much he respects those who came to support him.

Capaldi’s final day of filming marks the end of an era for Doctor Who. He first appeared as the Twelfth Doctor back in 2013 and has been in the role for 40 episodes in the years since. Not only that, but the Christmas special will also mark the final Doctor Who outing for showrunner Steven Moffat, who will be bowing out with his Doctor after an impressive eight years in charge of the series.

While we know that Moffat’s replacement will be Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall, we still don’t have any word on who the successor to Peter Capaldi will be. Given that filming on the Christmas special has now wrapped up though, which means that the new Doctor could have filmed his/her first scenes already, we’ll likely find out soon.

Tell us, are you sad to see Peter Capaldi depart Doctor Who? Who would you like to see take the role next? Have your say in the usual place.
