The latest batch of character posters for The Book of Boba Fett showcase the surprising allies the eponymous clone crime lord gained in last week’s third episode of the hit Star Wars show, not to mention one minor antagonist. In “Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa”, Fett was hired by a local water merchant to deal with a teenage cyborg biker gang who were stealing from him. But things didn’t go as planned.
Fett ended up admiring the principled gang and hired them as his own guards, turning the tables on the merchant and demanding he lower his extortionate prices. Meanwhile, the Hutt twins gifted the new Daimyo with a rancor baby, with the beast’s keeper being played by none other than Machete himself, Danny Trejo.
Ahead of “Chapter 4” dropping later this week, Disney Plus has shared these three new character posters which highlight Trejo’s rancor keeper, Stephen Root’s greedy water merchant Lortha Peel and two of the speeder gang, Drash (Yellowstone‘s Sophie Thatcher) and Skad (Jordan Bolger). These characters inspired a range of reactions from fans. Trejo making his way into the Star Wars universe blew the internet’s collective mind, even though we should’ve expected him to cameo, given his long-term friendship with EP Robert Rodriguez. On the other hand, the biker gang was widely criticized by those who didn’t like their color-coded speeders, which many thought didn’t fit the show’s aesthetic and were too “Power Rangers.”
The bikers will no doubt continue to play a role as season one unfolds, though it’s less clear if Trejo will be back or not to teach Fett how to tame his rancor. The only way to find out is to catch The Book of Boba Fett‘s latest episode this Wednesday on Disney Plus.
