After more than two years in production we finally have a release date for Adult Swim’s forthcoming animated series My Adventures with Superman. The latest trailer dropped earlier today, and the short teaser promises big things for the fledgling Superman series. Like most of DC’s animated fare, it looks like My Adventures With Superman blends classic 2D animation with an anime flair to create a visual delight for audiences, much like its predecessors Teen Titans and the plethora of Batman and Bat-Family films released over the last decade.
The series premiers with back-to-back episodes on Adult Swim July 6, and will come to Max the following day, followed by a new episode every Thursday. The show follows a twenty-something Clark Kent (Jack Quaid) in his early days at The Daily Planet. The wet-behind-the-ears reporter is new to the big city, and struggling with his work/life/hero balance. If his struggle with superpowers and super villains wasn’t enough, Clark has to contend with Lois Lane (Alice Lee) and her dogged determination to break the story of the century: Who is Superman? Its not all trials and tribulation for the last son of Krypton, the series promises a budding romance between the leading man and lady, the icing on the coming-of-age-cake.
While DC may struggle with its live action films, the company has always produced high quality animated features. From Son of Batman to Teen Titans: Judas Contract WB’s animated sector has pushed the limits with its animated offerings, perfecting the 2D superhero scape over decades of releases. If the early indicators are anything to go by it seems like My Adventures With Superman is already on track to easily carry the laurels of its predecessors. The two-episode premier hits Adult Swim July 6 at midnight ET, and comes to Max the next day. Episodes will re-air on Adult Swim Fridays at 1/6 central and Saturdays at
