Season four of HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones may have started filming about a month ago, but that hasn’t stopped the cast list from growing longer every week. We already had the likes of Pedro Pascal, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Roger Ashton-Griffiths, and most recently Joseph Gatt join the cast, but now we have yet another name to add to the list.
It’s being reported that Michiel Huisman has become the latest addition to the cast. Unfortunately, just like with Mark Gatiss, the character he will be playing has not been revealed, so at the moment we can only speculate from the numerous character remaining just who it is he’ll be portraying. Thanks to earlier casting announcements, we can rule out The Red Viper (Prince Oberyn Martell), Mace Tyrell, and Styr, Magnar of Thenn, but that still leaves multiple roles that he could be taking.
We do know that it is a recurring role, which has led to some thinking that he may portray a Kettleblack. However, if I recall correctly, we still don’t have a Donal Noye, blacksmith and brother of the Night’s Watch. Both guesses are as good as any. His picture doesn’t really give any specific clues as to who he will be, but even so, it would be hard to tell that way given the amazing makeup department that the show has that can make anyone look like anything.
For those who are unfamiliar with the actor, Huisman is originally from The Netherlands and has starred in projects such as Nashville, World War Z, The Young Victoria, and Treme. While I’ve seen two of those, unfortunately I can’t recall his face, but as always, I have great faith in David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to cast the best actor for the part.
Game of Thrones season four, based on the latter half of A Storm of Swords, will being airing next spring (late March/early April).
