Marvel Insider Reveals New Superhero Shows In The Making

It may not be Black Widow-tier espionage, but Agent X’s latest info has left many Marvel fans thankful for the scraps of rumours regarding up-and-coming projects. According to the secretive source, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Avengers Assemble, The Uncanny X-Men, and one unknown show are in the works. While all shows are in varying degrees of production, and therefore subject to change before Marvel’s official announcement, Agent X was willing to impart some choice facts on each show.

Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. – Primarily targeted at 5-12 year old boys, Agent X states that the show will focus on action. This incarnation of Bruce Banner and his incredible green alter-ego will most likely not appeal to canon-adhering comic fans, based on the general reaction to a currently airing similar show, Ultimate Spider-Man.

Although most Spidey fans turned their noses up at Ultimate Spider-Man, I found Ultimate Peter’s antics stupidly endearing. The humour, albeit reminiscent of Family Guy to some, is mindless fun at best. Hopefully, S.M.A.S.H. improves where Ultimate Spider-Man fell through.

Avengers Assemble – While the previously mentioned cartoon has divided fans, this one promises to bring them together. Called Marvel’s most ambitious, financially funded, and well-animated TV animation project, it follows a similar vein as Marvel’s movie universe, and will take itself more seriously than The Avengers: Earth Mightiest Heroes.

Panther, Antman, and Thanos are said to make appearances, with a possible Ms. Marvel presence as well.

With most of its live action movies smashing the box office and winning nerdy affections of comic book readers, a movie-inspired cartoon is bound to do the same. And if you’ve seen Marvel’s animated full-lengths, the art will most likely approach that same quality.

The Uncanny X-Men – Not much is known about this adaption, only that it may follow Avengers Assemble’s example.

Personally, I’m really excited for this one. Both the 90’s and early 2000’s X-Men cartoons were overall great shows, and I’m looking forward to seeing the new mutants (particularly a certain Snikt Jr.) on the small screen.

With Agent X’s disclosings, my hopes have definitely been raised. What do you guys think? Potential era of godly spandex animations or wishful thinking?
