One of the most popular Marvel heroes yet to get their own vehicle (pun intended) in the MCU is Ghost Rider. Gabriel Luna played the Robbie Reyes version on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to a positive reaction from fans and the Johnny Blaze original even made a brief cameo on the ABC series. Sadly, however, this hasn’t led to what we really want, which is a Netflix solo series for the flame-headed vigilante.
One fan has now had enough of waiting though and has gone ahead and envisioned their own poster for a proposed Ghost Rider show. The imagined teaser looks pretty professional, too, featuring a skull with a flickering flame in its left eye socket. Reddit user Zepanda66 is the artist responsible, captioning their piece: “Why hasn’t Ghost Rider on Netflix happened yet? Did they miss their window?”
Unfortunately, the comment about the studio missing their window may be bang on the money. It’s looking a lot like the glory days of Marvel and Netflix’s union is over. Over the past couple of weeks, both Luke Cage and Iron Fist have been cancelled after just two seasons. This leaves the fate of the surviving series up in the air, with many wondering if Marvel will clean their slate so that all of their new online TV output will land on Disney’s upcoming streaming service.
Still, this is all fan conjecture at this point, so let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb previously commented on the chances of a second season of The Defenders, teasing that it could feature a completely new team of street-level heroes. That would be a good opportunity to introduce the likes of Ghost Rider and other popular heroes like Blade or Moon Knight, so maybe there’s still hope yet.
