It’s hard to believe that the season six premiere of Mad Men is almost upon us, but April 7th really isn’t too far out now. A long time has passed since we last saw Don Draper and co. on screen and in order to ensure that audiences haven’t forgotten about the gang over at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, the network has released a new poster and featurette for the upcoming, 2 hour premiere, which begins at 9pm (mark it in your calendar, folks).
The featurette is pretty short but it gives us a quick look at some scenes from the upcoming season as well as some soundbites from creator/showrunner Matthew Weiner and stars Jon Hamm, Jessica Pare and Rich Sommer on what to expect this year on Mad Men. Admittedly, we don’t really get a whole lot and it’s more filler than anything else but still, this season has been so heavily wrapped in secrecy that any morsel of information we can get is worth taking note of.
As for the poster, I kind of like it. Sure, it doesn’t exactly look like your average, everyday poster, but it definitely stands out and also offers some interesting insights. For instance, why are there two versions of Don, and whose hand is he holding? Do we know for sure that its Megan’s? Or does the fact that they cut her off mean Don is seeing someone else now? Are we just reading into this whole thing way too much? Either way, it’s an interesting image and does spark some discussion.
If you can’t tell, we’re all very eagerly anticipating the return of what is, arguably, television’s greatest show and it won’t be long now until we know just what Weiner has in store for us with the sixth season.
Check out the poster and featurette below and let us know if you’re excited for the return of Mad Men.
